IDP Check

Privacy Policy

IDP Check runs entirely in your browser. There is no server, no account, and no database, so nothing you enter here is transmitted to us or stored by us.Last updated: September 3, 2026

What we do not collect

This site has no backend. The requirement lookup happens in your browser using data shipped with the page, which means your license country and destinations never leave your device.

  • No cookies are set, for any purpose.
  • No advertising, ad networks, or retargeting pixels.
  • No accounts, email addresses, or personal data are collected, stored, or shared.
  • No cross-site or cross-session tracking, and no attempt to identify you as a returning visitor.
  • No data is sold or transferred to anyone.

Audience measurement

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to see which pages get visited and how quickly they load. We chose these specifically because they are cookieless: they set nothing on your device, assign you no identifier, and cannot follow you to another site or recognise you on a later visit.

What they record is an aggregate page hit - the URL visited, the referring site, and coarse signals like country, browser, and device type - plus, for Speed Insights, real page-load timings. Vercel derives a temporary daily hash from request data to approximate a visit count; it is discarded and cannot be reversed to identify you. We see totals and charts, never individuals.

This is why there is still no cookie banner on this site. Under the ePrivacy Directive a banner is required for storing or reading information on your device, and nothing here does that. We would rather keep it that way than add a tracker that forces one.

What is stored on your device

One item: your light/dark theme preference, kept in your browser's localStorage so the page does not flash the wrong theme when it loads. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Your chosen sky (dawn, day, dusk, night) is kept the same way, and for the same reason.

Both are strictly necessary for a display setting you chose yourself, so they are exempt from consent requirements under the ePrivacy Directive. Together with the cookieless analytics described above, that is why you will not see a consent banner here - there is nothing to consent to.

Shared trip links

Your license country and destinations are encoded in the page URL so a trip can be bookmarked or shared. That means anyone you send the link to can see those destinations, and the URL may be retained in their browser history, in chat logs, or in server logs along the way. Share deliberately.

Server logs

The pages themselves are served as static files by a hosting provider, which may keep standard access logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and reliability. We do not use those logs to build profiles, and we do not combine them with anything else. Consult your host's policy for retention specifics if you self-host this site.

External links

Links to AAA, embassies, and automobile associations open on their own sites, which have their own privacy practices. We do not control those sites and we do not share anything with them. Following a link is an ordinary outbound visit, with no identifier passed along by us.

Children

This site is a general-audience informational tool and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children. Since no personal data is collected at all, there is nothing to delete on request.

Your rights

Rights such as access, correction, deletion, and portability under the GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA apply to personal data a service holds about you. We hold none, so there is no record to access, correct, export, or erase. If that ever changes, this notice changes with it and the effective date above is updated.

Changes to this policy

If the site ever adds anything that touches your data, this page is updated before that change ships, and the effective date at the top will reflect it.
